01 / TEST SETUP
Interval & pressure basis
Depths are metres below the collar; gauge height is positive above the collar. Groundwater depth may be negative for an artesian water level. Friction losses use the selected pressure unit. For inclined holes, enter the interval midpoint's true vertical depth.
Effective pressure is excess pressure above ambient groundwater pressure at the interval midpoint. Surface gauge correction assumes freshwater (1,000 kg/m³), a water-filled delivery line and a representative groundwater head. Use measured effective pressure when these assumptions do not apply.
02 / TEST RESPONSE
Pressure–flow cycle
Points follow test order. Compare loading and unloading stages before selecting a reporting rule.
03 / RESULTS
Lugeon summary
The calculator does not diagnose flow behaviour. Equal highest-pressure stages are averaged. Invalid stages are excluded from mean and maximum; an invalid final or selected stage has no reported value.
04 / FIELD READINGS
Test stages
Use the mean pressure and collected volume over each stable reading period. Timed-volume entries support fixed-time or fixed-volume measurements. Meter readings are cumulative litres. Keep the actual test sequence.
Calculation & interpretation
Q = volume / time (L/min). LU = Q / interval length (m) / effective pressure (MPa). One Lugeon represents 1 L/min per metre at 1 MPa (10 bar).
For surface readings: P effective = P gauge + 0.00980665 × [gauge height + min(midpoint vertical depth, groundwater depth)] − friction loss, with pressure in MPa and head in metres.
Lugeon is a pressure-normalised water-take index. It is not a universal conversion to hydraulic conductivity. Pressure-dependent flow, opening joints, leakage and changing groundwater head require engineering interpretation.
